Meet Monka Jean!
Monka Jean is a retired counselor who spent over 20 years working closely with diverse and high poverty populations in various schools across Colorado. She also spent time as an educator in a New Mexico adult-correctional facility providing classes and services for the juvenile population. Her experience mentoring these disadvantaged teens and young adults has provided her great insight and respect for these individuals. Now Monka Jean, a retired grandma of 5 who resides in the highest town Colorado has to offer, wants to celebrate this population of under-represented young people. She writes about the tough truths that face a large chunk of our population’s youth. She uses the inspiring stories of the young adults and children she once mentored to create books that others can relate to. Monka Jean hopes to reach an audience of this population to show them that they aren’t alone.
